Software Development Process and Process Execution Changes in the Telecommunications Industry

The tremendous changes in the telecommunications industry in the last several years have been reflected in changes in the definition and execution of the software design, development, and delivery processes. In this paper, we discuss the changes we have observed (and in some cases, driven) in the last four years, in both the defined processes, and in how those processes are executed. We compare these changes to those discussed in the Theory of Constraints/Critical Chains, Extreme Programming, and Agile development tools.
