Several recent studies have focused attention on impulsive perturbations of the magnetic and electric filed that are frequently seen at high latitude in the ionosphere. A number of different competing models have been proposed. Some recent models assert that all such events are the result of pressure variations in the solar wind. In this paper, we examine solar wind data taken by IMP 8 at the same time as impulsive perturbations were observed at South Pole, Iqaluit and in Greenland.
