Some industrial applications of selenium rectifiers

The advantages of the selenium rectifier over other types of dry rectifier are a high permissible working temperature (85degC.), a high current density (180 mA/cm2. with cooling fins), and a high permissible inverse voltage (15 V d.c.); further, the contact pressure is not critical, the efficiency is high and the size and weight are small. Descriptions and illustrations of rectifiers suitable for battery charging, cinema projectors, and telephone exchanges are given.
