Space-, Wavelength-, Polarization-Division Multiplexed Transmissions of 56-Tb/s over 76.8-km of Multicore Fiber

We present the first experimental demonstration of 107-Gb/s space-divisionmultiplexed DWDM transmissions in mutlicore fiber. A total of 56-Tb/s (7x80x107-Gb/s) signals on a 50-GHz grid are transmitted over a 76.8-km seven-core fiber, resulting in a record spectral-efficiency of 14-b/s/Hz on one fiber. ©2010 Optical Society of America
