Specification of Test Coordination Procedures in the Tree and Tabular Combined Notation (TTCN) Model
12 October 1988
Because of the advancement in communication technology, there has been an extensive amount of research to enable distributed computer systems and networks to communicate with each other. The method in which communication networks exchange data is through the use of commonly used protocols. A large portion of these protocols are standardized by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). From these standard protocol specifications, vendors must provide an implementation of the protocol to be exercised on their respective computer systems. Because of the different protocol implementations, there exists a need for a testing environment to ensure that the behavior of these protocol implementations adheres to the requirements of the reference specification. A testing environment basically consists of an active tester and a test responder.
