Spectroscopy of Free Carrier Excitations in Semiconductor Quantum Wells.

This article reviews inelastic light scattering studies of free carriers in semiconductor heterojunctions, multiple quantum well heterostructures, heterojunction superlattices, and in quantum wells of metal-insulator-semiconductor structures. We highlight applications of the method in recent studies of quasi-two-dimensional electron systems. The article will be published as a chapter in the book "Light Scattering in Solids", edited by G. Guentherodt and M. Cardona.
