Spectroscopy of High Temperature Superconductors at Microwave and Low Far-Infrared Frequencies

The complex surface impedance of high-quality superconducting films is measured at microwave and sub-millimeter wave frequencies using high-speed opto-electronic techniques. The results are compared to theoretical models with particular emphasis on the two-dimensional conduction in YBa sub 2 Cu 3 O sub 7 superconductors.
