Speech Recognition Research - Technology and Application
29 May 1989
The development of robust, speaker-independent, automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems that perform well over dialed-up telephone lines has been a topic of interest at AT&T for over a decade. This work has progressed from systems that can recognize a small number of vocabulary items, for example the ten digits zero thru nine, spoken in isolation, to systems that can recognize medium size vocabulary sets spoken in fluent sentences.
