Stochastic Fluid Models in the Analysis of Access Regulation in High Speed Networks
01 January 1991
The paper gives models and analytic techniques for studying access regulations in ATM-based Broadband-ISDN. The traffic in these networks is expected to be highly diverse and bursty, and some form of regulation will be required as an integral part of congestion control. We study a 4-parameter device called a regulator which is a generalized leaky bucket and which acts as a policing devices as well as a traffic shaper.
