Thin Film Research of High Temperature Superconductors
01 May 1988
For the new high temperature perovskite superconductors, thin film research is important for both science and technology. The 90K Y sub 1 Ba sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7 superconductor, and the more recent 84K Bi sub 2 Sr sub 2.0 Ca sub 1.0 Cu sub 2.0 O sub (8+x) superconductor have been successfully fabricated in film form by a variety of methods including traditional physical vapor depositions and nonvacuum metallo-organic techniques. In this paper, we review the state of art material synthesis, structural and superconducting properties of the films prepared mainly by molecular beam epitaxy, and RF magnetron sputtering.
