This paper investigates the problem of simultaneous multimedia transmission in wireless networks. Voice and data users share the same wireless uplink channel between the transmitters and the base station receiver. Due to their stringent delay requirements, voice users continuously transmit at a fixed rate. Data users on the other hand aim at maximizing their total throughput and are willing to trade-off additional delay for higher throughput and a more efficient use of their resources. In this paper, we study the power and rate control strategies that maximize the throughput of the data users, while guaranteeing the quality of service constraints for the voice users and not violating any of the users' average power constraints. The main contribution of this work is that the time-varying nature of the channel and the mobility patterns of the users are a priori incorporated into the design of the integrated strategy.
