Traditionally, AT&T has been product driven. Design a product and then seek a market for it was the overriding philosophy. However, as AT&T moves into the competitive marketplace a challenge faces it. Specifically, AT&T is striving to provide quality, timely products that are compatible and that offer positive solutions to customer needs. The Data Systems Group (DSG) of AT&T is endeavoring to meet this challenge by developing standards that ensure a family of computer products that are available in the marketplace.
