Traffic Grooming Algorithm for Multicast Sessions in WDM Optical Networks
01 January 2006
It is expected that a sizable portion of the future traffic in high-speed optical networks will be multicast. Since the bandwidth requirement of an individual user is only a fraction of optical channel capacity, multicast traffic grooming problem is becoming a crucial constituent in designing WDM networks. This paper proposes the traffic grooming algorithm called EMGA for multicast sessions in dynamic scenario based on a novel auxiliary grooming graph. The layered auxiliary graph represents current network resource states and is modified adaptively. Simulation results show that EMGA has lower network blocking probability under the situation of limited wavelengths and transceivers in the network
