Traffic Theory and Its Application

When we say that traffic is "heavy," "moderate," or "light," we are using traffic as a measure of how busy a facility, like a road is. In telephone switching, traffic is a measure of how busy a telephone system is. But, more specifically, it represents the number of call attempts offered to a system, and the average length of time each call is held.
