Transfer molding has assumed a critical role in the high technology areas of photonics and microelectronics. There has been recent effort on flow and curing behavior in this complex process, yet heat transfer and flow from the transfer pot itself has not been considered. A mathematical model was developed with the aid of tracer flow experiments to analyze transfer pot performance as a function of pot size and process parameters.
