Univerself Deliverable D4.15 Synthetic analysis of deployment results and impacts
17 October 2013
Deliverable D4.15 "Synthetic analysis of deployment results and impacts" reports on the demonstration results and presents an assessment of the technical and business impact of the solutions developed in UniverSelf. It brings together the simulation, prototyping, experimentation and demonstration work performed in Task 4.2, and the analysis of the technological and socio-economic impact of the technologies developed within the project (outcome of Task 4.3). This document is structured into two main parts. The first one represents a consolidated report on the UniverSelf final integrated prototype, including a description of the testbeds, the deployment architecture of the UMF framework and the implemented Network Empowered Mechanisms (NEMs) and the three scenarios designed to showcase the prototype. The results validate the efficient and reliable operation of the NEMs and their trustworthy interworking with the UMF core blocks. The technical study is complemented with a business assessment based on one of the scenarios, using quantitative and qualitative methodologies. The second part of this document describes how UMF could be deployed in existing (Metro Ethernet, FTTH, and Heterogeneous Mobile networks) and emerging (Software Defined Networks and Network Functions Virtualization) network infrastructures, and the UMF positioning on existing network and management architectures (3GPP LTE and eTOM), as well as the identification of UMF migration path. The synthesis of the aforementioned assessment results establishes the UMF feasibility and readiness for deployment.
