Use of "Stantec Zebra" to calculate a traffic table for a three-link time-division-multiplex telephone exchange
14 November 1960
A brief description of the time-division system using amplitude-modulated pulses and bidirectional gates is followed by a comparison of a 2-link and 3-link system: blocking formulae for both systems are given and solved using the Stantec-Zebra computer. It is shown that the need to a align time channels is a source of blocking, which is greater for a 3-link system; however a typical circuit of a 3-link exchange can carry 80% of the traffic of its 2-link counterpart for 1% lost-call rate.
