SUMMARY: Digital transmission methods for future mobile radio systems are currently being considered. Among the reasons for this are the availability of VLSI technology for digital signal processing and the need for reliable encryption. However, digital mobile radio channels are subject to signal fading and interference which causes digital transmission errors.
