Vortex Induced Vibration and Support Point Motions of an Undersea Suspension
18 February 1990
Tests were recently conducted in the cooling canal of a power plant to asses the threat of cable failure due to vortex-induced vibration. The cables were horizontally suspended across the river channel over several types of frictional support and measurements of the in-span vortex-induced vibration amplitudes and support point motions were made.
