Wavelength conversion for enhanced fiber optic UV sensing.

This memo analyzes the use of fluorescent phosphor-tipped detector fibers to increase the effective range of optical fibers used for remote ultraviolet sensing, and presents two methods for applying phosphors to fibers. This condensed version of an earlier memorandum (11524-870605-21TM) will be submitted for publication in the proceedings of the 1988 Fifth International Conference on Optical Fiber Sensors (OFS '88).
