Wavelength Shifting of a 21.4-Gbaud, 16QAM Signal using Highly-Nonlinear Silica Fiber

Longitudinal stress reduced the stimulated-Brillouin-scattering threshold in a highlynonlinear-silica-fiber parametric amplifier, allowing ditherless pumping. This enabled phase conjugation and frequency shifting of a 21.4-Gbaud, 16QAM signal with less than 0.6-dB penalty.
