Recently there has been considerable interest in the magnetic behavior of high nuclearity transition metal clusters since they represent ideal models for the transition of molecular units to small particulates to bulk metal. These molecular clusters, synthesized by chemical means, have a single size and shape as opposed to a broad size distribution for clusters produced by other means. The question of interest is the development of metallic behavior as the cluster grows in size. While there is no simple answer to this question, it is clear that it depends on which property of the metal one wishes to describe.
