Nokia brings the power of Wi-Fi 7 to the Island of Malta

GO, the leading communications provider in Malta, has chosen Nokia to upgrade its fiber and in-home Wi-Fi infrastructure, bringing next-generation connectivity—including the power of Wi-Fi 7—to residents across the islands. With Nokia’s advanced broadband and Wi-Fi solutions, GO will deliver faster speeds, improved reliability, and superior performance for demanding applications like streaming, online gaming, cloud access, smart home, and security services. 

To meet growing demand for multi-gigabit services and elevate the user experience, GO needed to evolve beyond offering average sustained bandwidth. The goal: a high-performance network with fast upstream/downstream capacity and robust in-home Wi-Fi to support gaming, cloud, and hybrid work environments.

GO delivers XGS-PON services using Nokia’s ISAM-FX and MultiPON platforms. The network is future-proof and 25G PON ready and underpins GO’s 5 GIG FTTH service, offering higher speeds, greater scalability, and improved service reliability.

To extend this performance into the home, GO is deploying the Nokia ONT XS-2437X-B together with the Beacon 19; both are tri-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh gateways capable of speeds up to 19Gbps—three times faster than Wi-Fi 6. As Europe’s first commercial rollout of Nokia’s Wi-Fi 7 fiber solution, the deployment gives GO a key competitive edge in delivering seamless multi-gigabit coverage across the home.

The Nokia ONT XS-2437X-B and Beacon 19 are powered by Nokia’s Corteca software, enabling intelligent Wi-Fi management, service optimization, and new monetization opportunities through enhanced user experiences.
