Simon Challinor
Principal Network Architect
BT
Simon started working for BT as a graduate in 1993, landing in the team that was just starting to develop BT’s first Internet service. It’s normally good advice to a graduate to seek new roles every few years, but Simon realised that his first posting was a lucky one and he choose to stay where he was and be part of the ever-expanding world of IP in the heart of the UK’s largest telecommunications company. Over the past 30 years he has taken part in each of the key developments that transformed BT from a traditional telco to the largest ISP in the UK, with all services now based on a converged IP/MPLS core network. Today as principal architect he oversees the end-to-end design and evolution of BT’s UK IP/MPLS core network.
