AT&T Customer Trial of the ISDN Primary Rate Interface

In October 1987, AT&T announced the start of the first customer trial using the ISDN Primary Rate Interface between customer premises equipment and the AT&T Network. This trial took place at the American Transtech headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida, and this article discusses the trial's objectives, architecture, and results. The American Transtech ISDN Trial made use of an array of AT&T products and services including: network services, premises switching equipment and associated management systems, optical scanners, voice and data terminals, and computers.
