PRELUDE: The sole purpose of this paper is to present a talk on 5ESS(R) Switch ISDN technology at Xavier University of New Orleans, Louisiana, where the author previously served as a visiting professor representing AT&T Bell Laboratories. The material in this paper is basically drawn from the articles that appeared in the AT&T Technical Journal, January/February, 1986.
