Intelex-automatic reservations
01 September 1948
An electromechanical "brain" arranged to provide a bookkeeping service. Designed specifically for the requirements of a reservation system for air-lines, it has applications in industries requiring similar facilities, such as railroads, hotels and theatres, as well as in the fields of inventory control, credit authorization, chain-store book keeping, etc., especially where remote control book keeping facilities are required. It will record and confirm an entry within 10 sec. Messages are sent to and received from the machine by means of teleprinter and for that reason the machine normally operates from the usual 5-unit start-stop telegraph code. The component parts of the equipment include relays and uniselectors and many of the operating circuits and features have been taken from the field of automatic telephony.
