Intelligent Network: Concept, Services, and Implementation

Over the years, many telephone administrations and telecommunications vendors have sought a technology that will allow them to introduce advanced services without large rearrangements of their network and serious disruption to their customers. The network resulting from this technology should be functionally modular and accommodate new services and varying customer requirements usually by simple software updates--i.e., without any major changes in the architecture.
