Intelligent Network Implementation Considerations in the RBOC Network
01 January 1989
Presently, the Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs), Interexchange Carriers (ICs), switching vendors and various computer manufacturers are involved in the development of the Intelligent Network (IN) concept. IN will revolutionize the design and introduction of switch based service creation and offerings by providing a new network architecture. The architecture is designed around a centralized data base, a Service Control Point (SCP), that interacts with the decentralized switching systems through primitives, Functional Components (FCS), over the Signaling System No. 7 network. IN will also complement the control and implementation of ISDN and future Broadband ISDN (B-ISDN) services.
