Differential equations relating to voltage and current are derived for a system of parallel transmission lines placed in proximity so that intercoupling takes place. These equations are solved and applied to various cases of practical interest, including the coupled section filter, where a quarter-wave resonant section is coupled into a line transmitting power to a load. A mechanical method for modulating the voltage and current on a transmission line is discussed, and also a method for coupling power from tank circuits of transmitting power amplifiers.
