Interface Design And Presentation Quality Impact On Cognitive Immersion And Social Presence In Video-Conferencing System
02 January 2013
This preliminary study examines the influence of interface attributes and presentation quality on remote auditors' cognitive immersion and perceived social presence in a professional videoconferencing context. As expected, cognitive immersion was strongly influenced by the quality of the presentation and by the interface design choices. However, providing social presence by the manipulation of interface features was useful only when the presentation was easy to understand. Finally, both cognitive immersion and level of perceived social presence have shown positive correlation with users' global satisfaction. This result validates and clarifies the importance of improving these two factors in the context of videoconferencing system
