The Teletype 5620 bitmap-display terminal has an external I/0 port that permits a knowledgeable user to construct small interfaces. When the authors attempted to build a 5620-to-MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) [1]- board, they had to confront the wealth of missing information (sic) surrounding the 5620 and its hardware. This TM describes a working interface of fairly general utility (MIDI, RS232, and Centronix devices are handled), and details what a designer needs to know in order to get a working box.
