Interleaver parameter-selecting strategy for DVB-RCS turbo codes

Turbo codes are at present standardised for digital video broadcasting (DVB-RCS) where interleavers are defined with four parameters. A new parameter-selecting strategy is introduced to improve DVB-RCS turbo codes. The performance of DVB-RCS standard codes is compared with that of turbo codes having the newly selected parameters. Computer simulations show the improvement of turbo codes with the new interleaver parameters.
