This chapter discusses our journey into the world of the Human Bond Communication (HBC) with an exploration in the fields of sensors, wireless, physiology, biology, wearables, and the Internet. It is only the natural endeavor that has led the human species to adapt and grow and become the most empathic creature that has ever walked on this planet. This process was long and imperatively governed by natural laws. During this process of adaptation, the human being has developed five senses, namely optic, auditory, olfactory, gustatory, and tactile for observing nature. Since then, the human brain has evolved cognitively and learnt progressively how to interpret the observations into information. This perceptive information is well exchanged among humans through these senses and, when collectively agreed, becomes knowledge. This chapter introduces the basic tenets of HBC as a concept. It is then followed with a proposed HBC systems architecture with a description of the key building blocks. The final section presents an overview of the book with a description of the topics covered in each chapter.
