ISHMAEL: An Integrated Software/Hardware Maintenance And Evaluation System.

This memo describes an integrated hardware/software CAD environment for use by system engineers, architects, designers, and implementors. Graphical specification, implementation, simulation and analysis are supported at all architectural levels from hardware gates to applications. The environment supports development using a mixture of paradigms and supports several programming languages, including an object-oriented Lisp variant, C, and some high- performance object-oriented languages. The hardware testing capabilities extend those of current SysCAD tools in several respects, including an integrated logic analyzer that can be used on both hardware and software objects. The system is being used to support ongoing exploratory architecture work.
