Melt Oxidized Liquid Phase Epitaxy of Yb sub 1 Ba sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7
01 January 1989
A liquid phase epitaxy system (LPE) was designed and used to grow melt oxidized Yb sub 1 Ba sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7 superconducting films on SrTiO sub 3 (100) substrate. The films were grown in a two stage process: 1) coating of the substrate by a Yb sub 1 Ba sub 2 Cu sub 3 metallic film and 2) an in-situ oxidation. The grown films are contamination free and superconducting at 90K. We review the process and identify the critical parameters as oxygen partial pressure and oxidation temperature.
