Memory and Termination Capacity Models for Domestic and International Gateway 4ESS(TM) Switches.
16 September 1986
Three exhaust modes of a 4ESS(TM) switch have been identified: Real time processing capability, number of trunk terminations available on the switch and call store memory available. The current model for switch exhaust implemented in the Fundamental Traffic Network Planning System (FTNPS) considers only the first two criteria. The real time exhaust model is based on the Office Real Time Analysis Program (ORCAP). The termination model, although valid for domestic switches, does not take into account the special considerations required for International Switching Centers (ISCs). A memory model characterizing the third exhaust mode is presented in this memo and the termination model is enhanced to encompass ISCs. This model is implemented and tested on current network forecast data obtained from FTNPS.
