Meteorological Phenomena and Fading on Terrestrial Microwave Links

Microwave propagation on terrestrial links is adversely affected by unusual vertical gradients across the depth of the atmospheric boundary layer. A variety of meteorological processes contribute to the formation of these gradients such as radiational transport of air layers differing in temperature or humidity, and subsidence within the lower troposphere.
