Microwave technique for studying discharges in gases
01 June 1953
The effect of subjecting localized regions (~1 mm long) of a glow discharge in neon to pulses of microwaves was investigated by measuring the changes produced in the discharge current. A region near the cathode, which is thought to coincide with the region of reverse field known to exist near the cathode of a glow discharge, was found to be most sensitive to the microwave signal.
