Mode-Division Multiplexing over 96 km of Few-Mode Fiber using Coherent

We report simultaneous transmission of 6 spatial and polarization modes, each carrying 40-Gb/s QPSK channels over 96 km of a low-DGD few-mode fiber. The channels are successfully recovered by off-line digital signal processing based on coherent detection and multipleinput multiple-output (MIMO) processing. A penalty of 28 dB.
