The Rapport multimedia conferencing system supports interactive, real-time, distributed conferences among two or more people. Executing on personal workstations interconnected by data and voice networks, Rapport provides basic mechanisms to create, manage, and terminate conferences. Participants of a conference are able to talk to each other, and share images and computer applications. Shared video services are planned but not yet implemented. This paper describes two versions of the system: a hybrid system based on a Local Area Network for data and an analog voice network, and a new version based on the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN).
