Multirate metro rings dimensioning and energy efficiency

We compare three metropolitan network technologies for resource and power utilization: Ethernet, ROADM, and a packet slotted scheme (POADM) in single and multirate scenarios, and show POADM is more energy efficient than Ethernet and ROADM. © 2010 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 060.4259, 060.4251.
