Network Traffic Management Operations Support for Large Telecommunications Networks
01 January 1988
Network Traffic Management (NTM) consists of real-time surveillance and control of traffic in a switched telecommunications network. Recently, especially for large networks, NTM has become mechanized and centralized in specialized operations support systems called Network Traffice Management Systems (NTMSs). In this paper we describe the NTMS of the AT&T's Multifunction Operations System (MFOS), its design and functions, and we discuss its performance as applied to large telecommunications networks.
