With the introduction of Intelligent Networks, many sophisticated and versatile services, such as Advanced Freephone and Calling Card, are now being offered. The Intelligent Networks allow features to be combined in almost unlimited ways to meet the needs of the Telephone Administrations and their Service Subscribers. To manage the network resources economically, the intelligence is distributed throughout the network. This increases the complexity of the network since many systems must function together to provide the necessary Call Processing and Operations and Maintenance support. This additional complexity increases the scope and effort of the vendor verification that must be performed prior to delivery to the customer to ensure the quality of the network product. It must be verified that each of the systems functions properly with each of the other systems and that the network requirements as well as the individual system requirements are being met. In order to complete the verification effort successfully, efficiently, and effectively, careful planning and management of the verification process is required.
