New Concept for Remote Amplification and Demonstration of 80 Gbit/s TWDM-PON with 44km Reach with 512 Split

We propose remote amplification by reusing optical amplifiers in the ONU as in-line amplifiers in a power line independent switched power splitter and show that the budget can be substantially increased compared to an unamplified ODN
