Recent developments in the areas of polymer adhesion and interfaces are reviewed. The multi-disciplinary nature of the field of adhesion science is illustrated using the application of interfacial adhesion promoters as an example. Three separate routes to construct model polymer/organic surfaces which may then be used as building blocks to conduct fundamental research on polymer adhesion are highlighted. Several research issues in adhesion science that merit a closer attention by the polymer community are identified.
