Optical noise for DPSK becomes pseudo-thermal, making LMS optimum for electronic PMD compensation (EP-MDC). Monte Carlo simulation demonstrates that EPMDC can compensate large PMD and reduce significantly penalty induced by strong filtering at high PMD.
