Non-linear Fiber Optics
01 January 1989
The study of nonlinear effects in optical fibers has now matured enough that a book on this subject should be a welcome addition to the literature on nonlinear optics as well as on fiber optics. Although the nonlinear effects do not play an important role in the current lightwave systems, they are expected to become important in the near future as we look for systems beyond ULTRA. Indeed, the use of optical solitons for long-haul, ultra-high speed, lightwave systems is being studied actively in the research area.
