Nonlinear Limits of SDM Transmission

We discuss the nonlinear modeling and performance of systems making use of space-division multiplexing (SDM) in fibers. Newly derived Manakov equations allow to efficiently compute the effects of birefringence and random linear coupling for both multimode and multicore fibers.
