Observation of polarization sign inversion in ferroelectric liquid crystals produced by doping S sub c liquid crystals.

There have been several studies which determine the magnitude of the spontaneous polarization of the chiral guest in a nonchiral smectic C host. The magnitude of the chiral host is extracted by straight forward extrapolation. In this study we show that such extrapolation is, in general, not possible.
